Brewing industry
The brewing industry, together with the wine and soft drinks industries, represents the second largest food industry in terms of turnover in Spain.
The volume of consumption of beverages such as beer has risen by almost 20% in the last 15 years, with beer brewed in Spain mainly for domestic consumption.
There has been an increase in the number of medium-sized factories and “signature” beverages, which has atomized and given variety to the sector.
As in the dairy industry, cleaning in this sector is based on the use of CIP systems in which alkaline and acid products are recirculated to adapt the tanks and control bacterial growth so that quality failures cannot occur (at a sanitary level it is a less problematic industry due to the difficulty of proliferation of pathogenic microorganism species).
The challenge of chemical dosing control (high quantities are consumed given the cubic capacity of CIP systems), or the saving of phases with single pass cleaning, play a fundamental role in the future of the sector.
